What is Degré 7 ?
Degré 7 is a collective of six visual artists whose practices vary from a person to another. It was formed in fine arts of Paris on the occasion of a study trip to Guiana. Therefore, his approach is part of a dynamic that questions the forms and the creative process in the exchange of the gesture.
Nour Awada, Richard Colin, Sébastien Hamidèche, Léa Klein, Eloïse Le Gallo and Camille Rosa, we find ourselves on projects winch place the work of matter at the heart of meeting between artists from different cultural backgrounds. The trip is often a catalyst for us that activates the imaginations of everyone and do the emergence of hybrid forms in this time together.

The seventh degree of the collective is a small open space unknown to a guest, to his questions.
So, through various projects, collaborations with these people outside the group direct the lines of thought to unexpected paths.
    
2011 : Les voyages de la terre

Since 2009 and for two years, with the help of Patrice Alexandre, professor of sculpture at Fine arts of Paris and Patrick Lacaisse, president of the association Chercheurs d’Art, the small group consisting of 7 students with protean visual practices, is bent on establishing the first phase of the project: Guyana and working with the native american potters. 
It was to question forms snug in their historical and geographical rankings relying on the intuitive experience as plastic friction point and not reasonable, as a place of undeniable meeting. The gesture as a language. Go to the meeting of another, who fascinates and scares us, budge in with this exotic fantasy, by exchange of creator to creator in the work of our primary media, common and immutable : earth. 2011, year of overseas : lecture series in ENSBA, manifested partners, then the trip in august and september.
  • August 2011: Guyana, RÉSIDENCE  20 days with native american potters Kalin'a.
  • October 2011: Paris, coming of potters kalin’a.
  • November 2011: exhibition at the Crous gallery Beaux-Arts's street.
In october, the group potters went to paris for a study tour. The project ends with an exhibition in a gallery : collaborations between students and potters, installations and subsequent sculptures travel, Kalin'a pottery, photographs and videos are investing space. Continuously there is the bottom note, intense, green, as the reference: return !
 
Spring 2014: Making sound the Kimboto
  • Edge of the Mana river, Artists RESIDENCY a month Degré 7 and six Guyanese sculptors around the Kimboto tree.
  • Creating a drum.
DO RESONATE the tree to bring his story at the heart of EXCHANGE. Following the first residency, we think about the sound of the tree, musicality it can produce within the forest.
